Passing Down NorCal Regional LIVE!

6:10 am - Rise and grind Northern California as the largest elite 7-on-7 tournament is just over two hours away from starting.  40 teams from throughout the northern part of the state and Nevada will compete for a berth to Best of the West VII in Orange County on April 24.  Today's tournament will feature eight 5-team pods that will be combined to form four 8-team super pods after pool play and an elimination game.  Each super pod winner will earn a trip to BOTW. 

Pool play schedule begins at 8:30 with the first four pods playing until 11:25.  The next four pods will begin at 11:30 and conclude at 2:25.  Playoffs will begin shortly after.

8:32 am - The first four games are underway in the crisp morning air.  916 Showtime is making their first appearance at Passing Down along with their opponent Silly U -- that has two teams playing today. Kenion Training is a PD veteran and has four teams competing with two going at 8:30.  Another newcomer is Malu Fitness they face off BTA out of the Tri-Cities area of the Bay.  Quick 6 Elite is another returner to the field as is the Bay Area Titans  All are vying for the chance to call themselves the Best of the West.

9:05 am - First four games are in the book.  KT D1 Elite Grey showed their strength in a 28-6 win over Quick 6 Elite.  916 Showtime blanked Silly U Green 26-0.  Malu Fitness is off to a rough start as well with a 20-0 to BTA.  Bay Area Titans beat KT Rebel Red 19-6.

9:30 am - KT D1 Elite Red is keeping up with its Grey squad as they smacked Degree Bound Gold 36-7.  Elevate is a newcomer to Passing Down and showed their worthy with a 22-12 win over Bandits Football.  IAMFitness 510 is another newcomer and showed grit in a 8-6 win over BTA Ghost.  Silly U Orange dominated Lights Out 35-13 to complete the second round of pool play matches in the early pod games.

10:05 am - KT D1 Elite Grey goes unbeaten after beating Good Game in a nail bitter, 19-18.  916 Showtime looks like the team to beat after posting another shutout, 28-0, over KT Rebel Grey.  Elevate Elite is off to a quick start with a 26-6 win over Malu Fitness. DB Nation takes out Bay Area Titans 19-7 to complete the 10:00 am pool play games.

10:45 am -Elimination games are approaching after 10:30 pool play games.

11:15 am - The first set of pool play games are done and four teams face elimination.  Malu Fitness/Degree Bound Gold, Bandits Football/Elevate, BTA Ghost/Silly U Green and Lights Out/Bay Area Titans winner will advance to the playoffs.  Losers go home!

11:55 am - Malu Fitness, Elevate, BTA Ghost, and Bay Area Titans have advanced to the playoffs and the second set of pool play games have begun.  In the probably the most highly anticipated matchup in Northern California, DB Guru defeated TMP Elite 22-6. Diverse, a Passing Down NorCal veteran, blanked Playmakers 14-0.  2015 BOTW qualifer Game-Fit Elite defeated VGT Elite 22-6.  In the fourth 11:30 matchup, Real Intense falls to The Shop, 14-6.

12:27 pm - The second series of pod games in full swing.  FieldUp led by sophomore quarterback Adrian Martinez dropped 32 points on Nevada's Ranch 77's Green squad in a 32-6 win. SWAG Factory beat TMP Elite POG, 26-24. In other pod action, Team Unknown beat Real Neal, 19-12.  Cen Cal Syndicate and Delta Prime went to wire in a 21-20 win by Delta Prime.

1:10 pm - The brackets are starting to take shape.  Diverse earns a top two seed after beating SBPC, 28-8.  DB Guru is also unbeaten with a 30-8 win over G.A.P. VGT Elite beats Ranch 77's Green squad 34-20.  And Real Intense finishes 1-1 with a 19-7 victory over VGT All-Stars. 

2:30 pm -  After 40 pool play games and eight elimination games the seeds are set.  916 Showtime, Diverse, DB Guru, and FieldUp are the top seeds with Silly U Orange, KT D1 Elite Grey, KT D1 Elite Red, and Game-Fit Elite as unbeaten No. 2 seeds.  BTA, SWAG Factory, The Shop, and IAMFItness 510 are undefeated No. 3 seeds.  Seeds four through eight have a loss.

4:30 pm - The Sweet 16 is set and only two upsets  in the first round.  The biggest upset was No. 8 Bay Area Titans beating No. 1 FieldUp.  Other upset saw a young KT Rebel Grey squad beat unbeaten No. 3 seed IAMFitness 510.

5:10 pm - Four teams have made it to the Elite Eight.  Diverse and DB Guru hold their top seeds while VGT Elite upset No. 1 seed 916 Showtime and DB Nation falls to No. 8 seed Bay Area Titans.​

5:40 pm - The Elite Eight is set with SWAG upsetting No. 2 seed KT D1 Elite Grey.  Completing the field of eight is Game-Fit Elite, Silly U Orange and KT D1 Elite Red.  All three held their No. 2 seed.

5:55 pm - SWAG, Game-Fit Elite, Silly U Orange, and KT D1 Elite Red all advance to Best of the West VII on April 24 in Orange County.

6:35 pm - SWAG Factory vs KT D1 Elite Red for all the marbles and to call themselves the Best of Northern California.
 
7:20 pm - KT D1 Elite Red is your 2016 Northern California Champions.  Danville (Calif.) Monte Vista QB Jake Haener is named MVP.
